為什麼婚紗是白色？

朋友要結婚了。

　　說起結婚典禮，除了想到紅包要包多少外，更想到新娘穿的婚紗，白色的婚紗。

為什麼婚紗通常是白色？

　　為什麼我們一想到婚紗，會直接聯想到白色？

　　是因為白色代表純潔嗎？

　　其實在1840世紀以前，婚紗並沒有統一的顏色。

　　1840 年2月10日，維多利亞女王 ( Queen Victoria ) 和艾伯特王子( Albert of Saxe-Coburg ) 結婚了，維多利亞女王在婚禮當天穿上全身全白的婚紗，震驚全場，從此之後，白色婚紗就風靡全歐美，逐漸影響到其他地區的國家。

　　雖然維多利亞女王和她的丈夫是政治聯姻，但他們是真心相愛，從維多利亞女王的日記就可以窺見他們的濃情密意:"Oh!, to feel I was, and am, loved by such an Angel as Albert was too great delight to describe! he is perfection … Oh! how I love and adore him I cannot say!!" [1]

　　"哦，能被像天使一般的Albert愛上是多麼的喜悅啊，我無法形容!他是如此完美，哦，我無法說我是多麼仰慕與愛他。"

　　聽說以前皇室的婚禮穿著都是色彩繽紛，令人眼花撩亂，難怪維多利亞女王穿白色婚紗可以出奇制勝，另人耳目一新。

　　甚至在1984年，Godey's Lady's Book (南北戰爭前最流行的美國雜誌 )寫到:“Custom has decided, from the earliest ages, that white is the most fitting hue, whatever may be the material. It is an emblem of the purity and innocence of girlhood, and the unsullied heart she now yields to the chosen one.” [2]

　　"自古以來，白色就是最適合的顏色，不論什麼材質，白色象徵少女的純真，也象徵對真命天子的忠貞。"

　　時光倒轉，如果維多利亞女王不是穿上白色婚紗，而是選擇其他顏色，或許婚紗就不以白色為主流。

　　因為婚紗的關係，白色也容易讓人聯想到幸福，不只是顏色給我們什麼感覺，有時候是我們賦予顏色意義。

　　想像一下，在另一個平行世界裡，婚紗的主要色調是粉紅色、金色或是黑色．．．好像也不錯呢。
